Border Crossing Regulations

Canadian / American Border Crossing Passport Requirements

A passport is required for all travelers when entering the U.S. and Canada.
If crossing with a child, it is advisable to have a parental letter of consent. (ie. If a father and son are traveling together, a letter of consent from the mother should also accompany the child. If traveling with a grandchild a letter of consent from both parents should be brought along.)

Fishing regulations

Muskie Regulations:

  • Open Season: 3rd Saturday in June to Dec. 15
  • Sport License Limit: 1 in your possession
  • Conservation License Limit: Zero in your possession
  • Special Size Restrictions: We have strict catch, photo, and release policy on Muskie. We can recommend some great companies to get replica’s done, wooden or graphite.

Northern Pike Regulations:IMG-20120914-00055

  • Open Season: Open all year
  • Sport License Limit: 4 in your possession
  • Conservation License Limit: 2 in your possession
  • Size Restrictions Sport License: Zero pike between 27.5 and 35.4 inches. Only one greater
    than 35.4 inches.

Smallmouth/Largemouth Bass Regulations:

  • Open Season: Open all year
  • Sport License Limit: 4 in your possession – no size limit form July 1 – Nov. 30
  • Conservation License Limit: 2 in your possession – no size limit form July 1 – Nov. 30
  • Winter Limit – Sport License: 2 in your possession – must be less than 13.8 inches between
    December 1 and June 30
  • Winter Limit – Conservation License: 2 in your possession – must be less than 13.8 inches
    between December 1 and June 30

Lake Trout Regulations:

  • Open Season: January 1 to Sept. 30
  • Sport License Limit: 2 in your possession
  • Non-Resident Sport License Limit: Catch and retain 1 in a day / possession of 2
  • Conservation License Limit: 1 in your possession
  • Non-resident Conservation License Limit: Catch only 1 per day and posssession limit of 1
  • Size Restrictions: Only 1 over 22 inches from Sept 1 to Sept. 30

Walleye Regulations:

  • Open Season: Jan. 1 to April 14 & 3rd Saturday in May to Dec. 31
  • Sport License Limit: 4 in your possession
  • Conservation License Limit: 2 in your possession
  • Size Restrictions: Only one Walleye greater than 18 inches

Boating regulations

Before you rent a boat we require a visa number, to cover any damages that may occur.

Also in Canada, it is required that you have a boating license or do a boat rental safety check-list.

We will do the safety check list with you on the day you arrive.
